Universidade Lusófona Faculty Visit EMAVs Pixotope-Powered Virtual Production Studio to Strengthen Industry Collaboration
Faculty members from Universidade Lusófona undertook a focused excursion to the Pixotope-equipped virtual production studio operated by EMAV and Plural Entertainment Portugal, with the aim of assessing the current industrial landscape and identifying areas for collaboration. The visit provided an in-depth view of how Portugal’s emerging virtual production sector is structuring its workflows around real-time XR systems, camera-tracking infrastructures, and LED-volume environments. By observing the integration of Pixotope’s real-time rendering engines with Alfalite’s modular LED walls and the TrackMen Pixotope tracking system, the group was able to map how technical decisions shape production methodologies and contemporary labour profiles.

Virtual Production Workshop Explores Cutting-Edge Technology in Malta Valletta, Malta

A two-day workshop entitled “VP for All”, integrated within the CUTTING EDGES initiative, was recently conducted at Studio7, Malta. The event was organized by Manuel Ciantar from Studio7 and his team in collaboration with the University of Malta, with co-funding provided by the European Union. Its primary objective was to introduce participants to the rapidly developing field of virtual production and its diverse applications.

On the 18th of September, a Lisbon entourage visited MO&MO headquarters in Tres Cantos, Madrid. This excursion was organised by FX-Roads (Portuguese Cutting-Edges Associated Partner).
MO&MO, a virtual production services company specialised in ICVFX based in Tres Cantos, Madrid and is led by the renowned Spanish VP Supervisor David Monguet. His combination of technical expertise, generosity, and knowledge-sharing spirit allowed the committee members from Lusófona University and FX-Roads to gain first-hand insights into ICVFX pipelines and workflows.
Exploring Post-Production: Lusófona teachers and researchers visit Nova Imagem
On May 16, 2025, the technical excursion dedicated to virtual production, organized by Lusófona University, brought together professionals from the sector on the subject of ICVFX (In-Camera Visual Effects), comparing the technical processes involved in capturing images using Green Screen and LED Wall. The case study of the film “A Travessia”, directed by Fernando Vendrell, stood out during the presentation.
