The launch of the virtual production course under the Cutting Edges program at Lusófona University brought students together in the new Eduardo Serra Studio, equipped with a 9x4-meter LED wall and advanced computer systems.
On September 23, 2026, the first unit of the virtual production course began. As part of the European “Cutting Edges” program — which aims to adapt and prepare the curricula of six European higher education institutions for the technological disruption driven by virtual production and artificial intelligence in the film industry — this course begins to disseminate knowledge and train new students in real-time technologies.
Set against the backdrop of Lusófona University’s new Eduardo Serra Studio — equipped with state-of-the-art computer systems and a 9x4-meter LED wall — students can experiment with and learn the intricacies of this art form under the guidance of João Aguiar and the instruction of David Stump and Rodolfo Anes Silveira.
This is a first step toward fostering and developing new skills in real-time composition of three-dimensional environments with live performance, and the first step in combating the decline of filmmaking skills in Portugal.
