CUTTING EDGES is a transformative project in film education leveraging Virtual Production (VP) and generative AI. The initiative aims to bridge gaps between VP studios and educators, enhance professional skills, and develop a network for training future virtual production professionals.
The objectives of CUTTING EDGES aim at 1) finding ways for VP studios and educators to work in collaboration 2) to improve skills of film schools and VP studio employees and 3) educate future talents to produce virtual production projects in a network of skilled professionals by creating Innovative non-linear Pedagogy. Education institutions and virtual production companies will work on Expertise Scaffolding to experiment and simulate the non-linear virtual production pipeline to innovate, prepare, plan, write, develop, produce, film, edit, and reflect to develop a virtual film production education scheme.
The results of CUTTING EDGES are the risen skillset of the educators and the employability of professionals and students to virtual production projects and diminish the lack of skills in the virtual production in film, media and arts. The main outputs of CUTTING EDGES are Studio Access Model, VP ecosystem report, pedagogical guideline for VP workflow, VP learning package, publications, VP Education Action plan and curricula recommendations.
